Civil Discourse on Israel? Can We Make Space in Seattle?

Have you been wondering how Limmud Seattle will handle topics related to Israel? The answer is—with civility. This panel of three experts will discuss the challenges and possibilities of civil discourse on Israel. The first step as a Jewish community is to learn how to speak to each other and, perhaps more important, how to listen to each other about Israel. This panel, moderated by Rabbi Jay Rosenbaum, will invite three experts to share their thoughts: Doug Kahn, Executive Director Emeritus of the San Francisco–based Jewish Community Relations Council; Elisheva Goldberg, former aide to member of Knesset Tzipi Livni; and Stanley Wulf, worldwide speaker on the challenges of Diaspora Jews in hearing and sharing views on Israel. They will trade ideas on this elephant-in-the-room topic and why practicing how we talk about Israel is the crucial first step for Jews today.
