David Naggar

David Naggar was born in NYC to Jewish immigrant parents who had both been born in Egypt, but whose families no longer found themselves welcome in the country of their birth after the events of Suez in 1956. David grew up in New York and attended Stuyvesant High School and Cornell University before beginning a career in book publishing at Warner Books in 1986. He also went to NYU’s Stern School of Business, where he got an MBA in 1991, but more importantly met his future wife, Karen. Over 20 years in book publishing, David held many roles at Warner, Bantam Doubleday Dell (BDD), France Loisirs in Paris, and Random House, including most recently head of US sales for Random House and then president of one of Random House’s publishing divisions. In 2009 David and his family moved to Seattle to join the Kindle Content team, and he now oversees the Kindle book business worldwide, including the Kindle Store, Amazon Publishing, KDP (independent publishing), and Kindle’s relationships with publishers worldwide. At Amazon, he works with a passionate team dedicated to inspiring the world to read more and get more out of reading. David and Karen are the proud parents of five children who range in age from 21 to 11.
