Pamela Lavitt

Pamela Lavitt is the Director of Arts+Ideas (since 2012) and the Seattle Jewish Film Festival (since 2005) at the Stroum Jewish Community Center, bringing over 100 international artists, films, and filmmakers annually to the Greater Seattle region. Trained as an oral historian, folklorist, and theater scholar, Lavitt has taught at New York University and University of Washington and has shaped exhibits locally and nationally, such as the Jewish Women’s Archives “Seattle Stories” exhibit at MOHAI and the Jewish Museum of New York’s “Entertaining America: Jews, Movies and Broadcasting.” A graduate of Duke University and completing her doctoral coursework at New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts in Performance Studies, Lavitt continues to publish articles on Jews in popular culture and theater, and is a frequent contributor to the Jewish in Seattle magazine.
