Since 1997, Connie Burk has directed the NW Network of Bisexual, Trans, Lesbian, and Gay Survivors of Abuse in Seattle, establishing the National LGBTQ Institute on IPV. She focuses particular attention on strengthening alliances among marginalized communities while centering liberation values in her work. She co-authored Trauma Stewardship: An Everyday Guide to Caring for Self While Caring for Others, is an executive producer of the award-winning documentary A Lot Like You, and is a contributing author to The Revolution Starts at Home and the third edition of Child Welfare Law & Practice. Her campaign Friends Help Friends Survive won an Avon Global Communications Award, the first US-based campaign to receive this honor. A mother of four, Connie spends her evenings at bars doing stand-up in the local comedy scene. She has a patent pending on a Torah Cover Storage System that will really make your sisterhood kvell.
